Prevent Diabetes Problems: Keep Your Diabetes Under Control by Jordan Soblick

What are diabetes problems?

Too much glucose (sugar) in the blood for a long time can cause diabetes problems. This high blood glucose (also called blood sugar) can damage many parts of the body, such as the heart, blood vessels, eyes, and kidneys. Heart and blood vessel disease can lead to heart attacks and strokes. You can do a lot to prevent or slow down diabetes problems.

What should my blood glucose numbers be?

Keeping your blood glucose on target will prevent or delay diabetes problems. For most people, target blood glucose levels are:

Before meals > 90 to 130 1 to 2 hours after the start of a meal > Less than 180

Talk with your health care provider about what your blood glucose numbers should be. Print out this chart and record them.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Before meals ______ to ______ 1 to 2 hours after the start of a meal Less than______ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

You and your health care provider will agree on when you need to check your blood glucose using a blood glucose meter. You will do the checks yourself. Your health care provider can teach you how to use your meter.

Keep track of your blood glucose checks using the record page . Make copies yourself or ask your health care provider for a blood glucose record book. Your blood glucose check results will help you and your health care provider make a plan for keeping your blood glucose under control. Always bring your record book to your health care appointments so you can talk about reaching your glucose goals.

How can I find out what my average blood glucose is?

Ask your health care provider to do an A1C test. This blood test shows the average amount of glucose in your blood during the past 2 to 3 months. Have this test done at least twice a year. If your A1C result is not as good as it should be, your health care provider will do this test more often to see if it is improving as your treatment changes. Your A1C result plus your blood glucose meter results can show whether your blood glucose is under control.

Aim for a result below 7 percent. If your A1C test result is below 7 percent, then your blood glucose is in a desirable range and your diabetes treatment plan is working. The lower your A1C is, the lower your chance of getting eye, nerve, and kidney damage.

If your test result is more than 8 percent, you need a change in your diabetes plan. Your health care team can help you decide what part of your plan to change. You may need to change your meal plan, your diabetes medicines, or your exercise plan.

What should my blood pressure be?

Normal blood pressure will help prevent damage to your eyes, kidneys, heart, and blood vessels. Blood pressure is written with two numbers separated by a slash. For example: 120/70. The first number should be below 130 and the second number should be below 80. Keep your blood pressure as close to these numbers as you can. If you already have kidney disease, you may want even lower blood pressure to protect your kidneys.

Meal planning, medicines, and exercise can help you reach your blood pressure target.

What should my cholesterol be?

Normal cholesterol levels will help prevent heart disease and stroke, the biggest health problems for people with diabetes. Keeping cholesterol levels under control can also help with blood flow. Have your cholesterol level checked at least once a year. Meal planning, exercise, and medicines can help you reach your cholesterol targets:

Total cholesterol under 200 LDL cholesterol under 100 HDL cholesterol above 40 (men) above 50 (women) Triglycerides under 150

What does smoking have to do with diabetes problems?

Smoking and diabetes are a dangerous combination. Smoking raises your risk for diabetes problems. If you quit smoking, you'll lower your risk for heart attack, stroke, nerve disease, and kidney disease. Your cholesterol and your blood pressure levels may improve. Your blood circulation will also improve. If you smoke, ask your health care provider for help in quitting.

Santa Barbara, CA (PR WEB) October 19, 2005 –- In response to the massive flooding from Hurricane Stan that has left 120,000 Guatemalans homeless and living in shelters, Vitamin Angel Alliance has issued a call for nutritional supplements and products to help victims avert a food crisis in the region. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day is October 24, 2005

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day occurs on Monday October 24, 2005, as part of an effort to increase public awareness of the benefits of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. It is estimated that as many as 43% of Americans have used or are currently using some form of complementary or alternative therapy such as Acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

(PRWEB via PR Web Direct) October, 22, 2001 -- Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day occurs on Monday October 24, 2005, as part of an effort to increase public awareness of the benefits of Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. It is estimated that as many as 43% of Americans have used or are currently using some form of complementary or alternative therapy such as Acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

In celebration of this special day Ian Wahl, a board certified Acupuncturist, licensed to practice in three states, and owner of The Wahls of Wellness in Arlington Heights, IL, is pleased to announce that his clinic is offering free Acupuncture and Oriental medicine consultations and evaluations for the community.

Wahl says, “There are many people in our community who suffer from chronic conditions that are not responding well to conventional Western medicine interventions. Our free service will give people an opportunity to learn about acupuncture and Oriental medicine; and to find out if it may help them.”

A typical trip to the family physician usually involves forty-five minutes in the waiting room, five minutes with the doctor and leaving with a prescription. Often ailments are not investigated in depth, as they should be. Countless patients are left thinking there is no hope for relief. However, rather than simply treating symptoms, many health concerns can be traced back to the source and be dealt with at the root of the problem.

Wahl explains, “Whether you have a chronic illness or just vague symptoms, it is a sign that one or more of your body’s systems is failing. From an Oriental medicine perspective, health problems are caused by blockages in the flow of blood and energy within the body.”

Acupuncture is the 3,500 year old healing science based on finding blockages in the flow of blood and energy in the body, and using specific techniques to remove those blockages. Specific points on the body are stimulated to increase blood and energy flow in order to improve organ function, and thus relieve pain and illness. Acupuncture is based on the fact that there is a measurable energy that travels through the body, which is called Qi (pronounced “Chee”). The energy moves through specific pathways called meridians. This energy, or Qi, moves blood and is vital to normal organ and tissue function. Good health is dependent upon the flow of energy and blood through the body. The blockage of energy and blood can cause pain and illness.

Wahl uses the analogy of a garden to explain this. “Just as a garden needs water to stay healthy, the body also needs the proper flow of energy and blood to vital organs. If you tried to water a garden with a water hose that had a kink or blockage that prevented water from getting through, then the plants in that garden would die. That vital flow of water could not reach the plants. It is very much the same with your body. If blood and energy cannot flow freely to all of the areas of your body, you would experience disease, illness and pain. Health is restored by finding and correcting the areas of blocked blood and energy flow and thus strengthening the immune system.” Wahl states, “Symptoms are the last phase of body dysfunction, not the first. Like the red signal light in your car that flashes when your engine is failing, a physical symptom is a signal that an underlying health problem needs to be corrected. Treating a symptom without uncovering its root cause is like replacing the warning light in your car rather than fixing your car’s engine. A person who wants to be healthy and stay healthy should see a healthcare professional who can remove the cause of lowered resistance before symptoms develop.” Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine treat the cause of health problems by finding the blocks to normal blood and energy flows and releasing these blocks.

What can cause a blockage to occur? According to Wahl, “Stress of any kind. Dietary stress, physical stress, or emotional stress causes the negative effects we experience as “symptoms.”

For thousands of years the goal of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine has been to help people achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. As Wahl puts it, “Acupuncture’s holistic approach gives you a complete overview of your personal health. With this information, an acupuncturist develops a treatment program that can relieve the underlying causes of your symptoms and improve all of your body’s systems.”

Ian Wahl, a member of the numerous state and national acupuncture and Oriental medicine associations, as well as a professional member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and an active member of the Doctors Speakers Bureau™ and the International Speakers Bureau™, provides seminars, workshops, and consultations to clients ranging from non-profit organizations to large corporations. Mr. Wahl also maintains a private practice at The Wahls of Wellness, Arlington Heights, IL, (847) 392-7901. For more information, see their website www.wahlsofwellness.com.

Bingo - Healthy Coffee Franchise Claims Health Benefits and Franchise

Bingo It's Coffee! Darren Little, Founder of Bingo.com, is Betting Big on the Healthy Coffee Industry as He Launches Cupofmoney.com

Darren Little, founder of Bingo.com, the world's most popular online bingo site, launches a new category creator, marketing the world's first gourmet healthy coffee at cupofmoney.com. Home based Franchises available as low as $1000.

(PRWEB) October 22, 2005 -- Leave it to marketing visionary Darren Little, 41 of Vancouver BC and the founder of the world’s most popular online Bingo site; Bingo.com, to launch yet another dotcom category creator; Cupofmoney.com -- marketing the world’s first healthy coffee.

“Simply visit www.cupofmoney.com and click on Learn More” says Little. “After viewing a short presentation on our products it will become quite apparent why we are so excited about this new launch. We are so confident in the taste of our exciting line of healthy beverages, that we offer consumers an opportunity to sample them for free.”

Gano Cafe is the world's first great-tasting healthy coffee produced by Gano Excel. It is a delicious coffee drink that helps to provide energy and vigor, while reducing fatigue. Gano Cafe contains an ancient ingredient derived from a species of Red Mushrooms that is said to be more powerful than Ginseng. Known as the "Miraculous King of Herbs", Ganoderma (also known as Lingzhi in China; Reishi in Japan and Youngchi in Korea) is listed as a Superior Herb in Sheng Nong's Pharmacopeia, an ancient Chinese Herbal Text dating back over 2,000 years.

Ganoderma, provides the lift in energy that coffee drinkers look for, but without the caffeine jitters. A typical cup of coffee contains approximately 138 mg of caffeine. The unique blend of ganoderma in this product neutralizes the caffeine dramatically to only 9 mg per cup, but still provides that "lift" and boost in energy that coffee drinkers are looking for, but without the caffeine jitters.

Gano Cafe helps the body fight disease the way nature intended. Ganoderma Lucidum (the natural substance in all of Gano Excel's products) is said to help enhance health by removing toxins from the body and then building up the body's immune system.

Each serving is individually and neatly packed making them great for travel or outdoor events. Simply pour contents of one package into a cup, mix with boiling water, stir and enjoy! Want a summer refresher? Try this unique healthy coffee blend over ice, or throw it into a blender with ice cream for a real treat.

Little, who became a dotcom millionaire at the age of 35, claims he can see industry trends years before they actually take hold in the marketplace, and feels that healthy coffee will bring an entirely new trend into an industry already led by the world’s second largest commodity traded on the stock exchange today.

Little says that when he launched Bingo.com, it was a totally uncharted industry. The offline industry statistics played a large factor in his decision to take the concept online, but until then no one had blazed a trail down the uncharted path. Bingo is the most actively supported form of entertainment in North America with over 1.2 billion visits per year and is more popular, in visits per year, than all sports activities, movies, rock concerts, and casinos combined. Five years after its launch, Bingo.com now has over 1.2 million registered users.

Coffee on the other hand is the second largest commodity traded on the stock exchange today with over 500 million cups of coffee consumed daily in North America alone.

“With gourmet coffee shops popping up on every street corner and line-ups becoming more and more difficult to deal with, online healthy gourmet coffee sales will be the next inevitable direction that the industry will head into” says Little. “With direct to door delivery for all of our products, Cupofmoney.com will market the world’s first healthy coffee and will be there to support that demand”.

Industry experts admit that this is the first time they have seen a health product delivered through coffee, mocha, hot chocolate and tea and that unlike vitamins, which are sometimes hard for people to swallow or introduce as part of their daily routine, people don’t have to change their daily habits to experience the benefits of this product.

“Everyone take’s a coffee break” says Little “that’s what makes enjoying this product so easy. People actually look forward to drinking our products on a daily basis.”

Little estimates that similar to the online gaming industry that the market for the world’s first “healthy coffee” will reach into the billions of dollars over the next decade. Cupofmoney.com provides online ordering and direct to door delivery for their entire line of products. Simply log-on to www.cupofmoney.com; click on shop, click on general and choose from the company's list of healthy beverages: mocha, classic, 3 in 1, tea, or even hot chocolate.

Customers that register for the company's autoship program can experience substantial discounts off of retail pricing, in addition to every 7th order being free.

At last somebody has come up with a definitive healthy coffee. And they did it without sacrificing the rich full flavor experience that coffee brings: that delightful lift to our mood and mental outlook every morning of every day of our lives. And what they’ve done is take the most perfectly selected batch of rich Brazilian coffee bean, crystallize their finest flavor secrets and blend them into a superb combination of rich taste and powerful nutrition.

Why Robotics In The Ocean May Be The Key To Reversing Asthma, Cancer, Heart Disease And More

The 1992 Earth Summit in Brazil reported that mineral depletion of our arable farm soil is a WORLDWIDE EPIDEMIC, with the United States topping the charts with an 85% soil depletion of minerals. Sea vegetables that grow 200 feet below the surface in the “REGENERATION ZONE” of the Artic Ocean may be the key to the body’s ability to defeat some of the nations most dangerous killers.

(PRWEB) October 22, 2005 -- Scientists make an amazing discovery 200 feet below the surface in the “REGENERATION ZONE” of the Artic Ocean. This area of the ocean is constantly being replenished with nutrients and minerals and the sea vegetables that grow there may be the key to the body’s ability to defeat some of the nations most dangerous killers.

The 1992 Earth Summit in Brazil reported that mineral depletion of our arable farm soil is a WORLDWIDE EPIDEMIC, with the United States topping the charts with an 85% soil depletion of minerals. As a result of this lack of minerals in our diet, we have seen an explosion of autoimmune diseases like Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. As little as 60 years ago 1 out of 20 people would get Cancer, now you have a 1 out of 3 chance of getting Cancer and a 1 out of 4 chance from dying of Cancer.

Scientific data from credible sources all over the world are beginning to support that the addition of phytonutrients and minerals from these sea vegetables to your daily diet, can greatly improve your immune system’s response “When you compare the dramatic increase in Cancer and the rise of autoimmune diseases with the severe depletion of minerals in our farming soils, what you find is a direct correlation between this mineral depletion and the increased risk of getting these diseases. As a result, we seek the use of drugs to treat the symptoms rather than to address the cause. By simply adding these lost minerals to our diets, we can provide our bodies with the ability to boost our immune system and this can lead to the defeat of some of our societies most feared killers. Providing your body daily with these minerals and phytonutrients from the sea gives our body the best chance to repair and heal itself,” says John Obraza, one of the nations leading phytonutrient specialists.

Mr. Obraza has literally changed thousands of lives over the past several years in helping people dramatically improve the quality of their health For more information about how you can find this product please contact Mr. Obraza toll free at 888-667-4452.

Help for African-American Women with Diabetes

Diabetes: Living My Best Life™ combines a technology-based interface with culturally engaging content for African-American women who are working to manage type 2 diabetes. This CD-ROM is designed to support both clinical and community-based interventions with software that provides ongoing self-management education.
Diabetes: Living My Best Life™ combines a technology-based interface with culturally engaging content for African-American women who are working to manage type 2 diabetes. This CD-ROM is designed to support both clinical and community-based interventions with software that provides ongoing self-management education.

In the last 12 years the percentage of African-Americans with diabetes has doubled from 8.9% to18.2%. African-American women are twice as likely as white women to be diagnosed with diabetes, and once diagnosed African-American women are more likely to experience severe complications, such as kidney failure and blindness. Diabetes with its related complications is the fourth leading cause of death in the African-American community and the fifth leading cause of death nationwide.

There is no cure for diabetes. The progression of the disease is managed through medication and changes toward a healthier lifestyle. Lifestyle modifications, such as changes in diet, weight loss, and a low-impact exercise program, can significantly reduce the complications of type 2 diabetes. However, implementing these lifestyle changes and understanding appropriate health care and medication regimens can be a challenge.

Type 2 diabetes has reached epidemic status among African-American women, with one in four African American women older than age 55 reported as having the disease. Effective approaches to meeting the challenge of self management education have not caught up with the need.

According to Gretchen Youssef, Program Director of the MedStar Diabetes Institute, “There is a real shortage of diabetes educators and we need to look at many different ways to meet the needs of a vast number of patients with type 2 diabetes.” Ms. Youssef, who is responsible for diabetes education for 30,000 patients in the Washington, D.C.-based MedStar Health System, continues, "Diabetes: Living My Best Life™ includes the psychosocial aspects of managing the disease throughout the program. It is very thorough and for me provides a cross-cultural bridge to better serve African-American women."

HealthMark Multimedia developed Diabetes: Living My Best Life™ with extensive feedback from an African-American Patient and Professional Advisory Board. Development was funded through a Small Business Innovation Research contract from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

About Diabetes: Living My Best Life™:
Diabetes: Living My Best Life™ takes a patient-centered approach, using personal stories to illustrate improved skill in the self-management of diabetes. Four African-American women share their experiences and provide a framework for understanding the real-life challenges of monitoring blood sugar levels, planning food and nutrition, increasing exercise and physical activity, and improving medical care. The program attracts and maintains the user's attention through a colorful interface that highlights a personal change process through reflecting, coping, taking action, and succeeding in diabetes self-care.

Accompanying each story is in-depth educational content and interactive tools for practice in reading food labels, controlling portions, monitoring blood sugar, overcoming exercise barriers, understanding complications, and other essential tasks related to self-management. Computer simulations and learning activities enhance retention and encourage application through skill rehearsal and self-testing. Music, individual self-assessment, and feedback help motivate and encourage users. Printable fact sheets and follow-up questions help implement personal goals and facilitate communication with health care providers.

Initial feedback from women in Washington, DC who have used the CD-ROM has been very positive, with measurably improved knowledge of the disease. A 78 year-old who has had diabetes for a number of years noted that she hadn't known that she was supposed to call the doctor when her blood sugar was 350 [mg/dl or go to the hospital when it reached 500 [mg/dl. A woman who had been diagnosed just a year ago stated that she learned a lot that she didn’t know. Women also noted various ways that having the CD ROM enabled them to build awareness of diabetes in their family and community.

Diabetes: Living My Best Life™ is designed to be used by health professionals, diabetes educators, counselors, churches, and individuals with type 2 diabetes and their family caregivers. The institutional edition, which includes a CD-ROM for unlimited users and an instructor's Diabetes: Living My Best Life™: Guide for Diabetes Education, is now available at www.DiabetesBestLife.com.

Fundraising Website Converts School Fundraisers to Residual Income so Schools can Build on Past Fundraiser Efforts

Fundraisers are typically one shot wonders at best with no lasting effect. This means that all fundraising efforts are generally starting from scratch every time. Vitafunds.com takes the fundraiser idea and turns it into residual income for the fundraising organization.

Vitafunds.com is solving a lot of fundraising headaches by taking a hi-tech approach to an elusive problem, taming the fundraising monster. Vitafunds.com allows fundraisers to become residual by keeping the fundraiser going all the time.

Many school, church, and charity money raising and fundraising strategies typically include products like candy; this trend seems to be declining due to increasing health concerns and an aging “baby boomer” population. Instead Vitafunds.com products are healthy alternatives including natural health supplements.

Traditional fundraising promotional methods are still used, but instead of kids and other promoters collecting names and orders, promoters instruct buyers to go to a website and purchase items.

This results in fewer misunderstandings because the company providing the products is collecting the money. Another result is that the consumer doesn’t have to wait forever to receive their order. Vitafunds.com ships it immediately and typical turn-around time is three to five days. The consumer gets their product quickly and the school gets the money for their fundraiser quickly and with very few problems.

But unlike typical fundraisers, that is not the end of the story. Whenever that buyer goes back to the site and purchases more products, the school continues to receive proceeds from every order, forever.

But you don’t have to wait for someone to come to your door asking you to support your local school or non-profit organization. Just go to http://shop.vitafunds.com to shop online for fundraising products. Once you are there, choose your state, the fist letter of your school or organization, and a list of current organizations will be listed to choose from.

If you don’t see your local organization in the list, call George Webster at 1-877-754-0289 and we’ll be happy to add your organization. Organizations never pay anything to be included in the program. They simply need to contact http://www.Vitafunds.com and ask to be included.

Go to http://www.vitafunds.com/vitafunds_charity-non-profit-fundraising.html for more information about automating and expanding your fundraising efforts. (PRWEB) October 21, 2005

Can You Stop Nail Biting & Thumb Sucking by Enhancing Your Body Image?

The following Company seems to think so...

People seem to pull, pick, or bite when they are either overstimulated (due to stress or excitement) or understimulated (due to boredom or inactivity).

There are many that now believe that compulsive hair pulling, skin picking, and nail biting form a subgroup of what is becoming known as the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Spectrum. OCD has been previously been regarded as only a single disorder. It may in fact represent a range of related disorders, including classic OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, Trichotillomania, Onychophagia, Compulsive Skin Picking, Compulsive Nail Biting, and Tourette's Syndrome. Recently, a new term has been coined for these problems - Body-focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs). With these Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors, such as skin picking and nail biting, are considered to originate within the chemistry of the brain, and may well have an underlying genetic cause.

Fight Child Obesity -- C.H.E.F. Organization Takes the Lead

C.H.E.F. Launches FUEL™ Series with Youth Gala Event in San Francisco to Fight Childhood Obesity -- Celebrity Chef, Youth Groups, Grocer Demonstrate Healthy Choices

Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.®), developer of the most widely-used prevention curricula in the United States, will host the first FUEL™ Series Youth Gala event to help fight childhood obesity. Dubbed a "one-of-a-kind special evening of healthy entertainment for kids," the event will take place at the popular San Francisco Exploratorium on October 21, with nearly 350 school-aged kids attending from a number of Bay Area youth-serving organizations. Teachers, administrators, and health officials from around the Bay Area will also be in attendance.

The Youth Gala event will officially launch C.H.E.F.'s innovative new FUEL series, which is the first youth-inspired educational product designed to fight childhood obesity. The FUEL series, which makes childhood obesity relevant and compelling by focusing on kids talking to kids about making healthy choices, will come to life at this event through a series of highly interactive, entertaining, fun, and educational activities that will be held throughout the evening.

The event will commence with buses of young guests arriving at the Exploratorium from youth-serving organizations in and around the Bay area, including The Boys and Girls Club-San Francisco, Leadership Excellence-Oakland, Gallileo High School Wellness Program, and Big Brother Big Sisters-San Francisco.

Once in the Exploratorium, the young attendees will be served a variety of healthy, great tasting appetizers and beverages as a way to address the importance of good nutrition. At the same time, celebrity chef, Claud Mann, an engaging personality from the popular TBS show "Dinner and a Movie", will conduct a cooking demonstration to address how kids can prepare and eat great food that's healthy.

As the evening progresses, several Bay-area organizations, some of which were profiled in the FUEL series, will also participate in the event. Common Sense Media will address media literacy and demonstrate how youth can be more media-savvy. People's Grocery will discuss the importance of positive activism and share ways that youth can get involved in making healthy changes in their communities. Destiny Arts will address the importance of physical activity and body movement through a dance demonstration and performance to engage the kids in physical activity. Seattle-based Reel Grrls will demonstrate their media technology skills through videotaped interviews they'll conduct during the evening.

According to Larry Clark, President and CEO of C.H.E.F., "As a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our nation's youth, C.H.E.F. is delighted to be hosting this innovative, educational, and entertaining event. What makes this event truly special is its practical, hands-on approach to addressing one of the most critical health issues affecting kids today. Like the new FUEL series, this event focuses on kids talking to kids about making healthy choices, in a way that is interactive, creative, and a lot of fun. Ultimately, we want to show kids what they can do to take control of their own health."

New Christian Diet Book Arrives for National Vegetarian Month

New Christian book revisits benefits of adopting vegetarian diet, especially plant-based Genesis diet.

In our modern Western world we see so much disease and sickness, even among Christians. Could it be we are literally “eating ourselves to death?" God Wants You Healthy! describes a solution to the most critical nutrition-related diseases we face today. Great Christian leaders such as John Wesley and William Booth benefited from this nutritional regimen. The time has come to finally consider a vegetarian diet, in fact the low-fat, plant-based Genesis diet described in Australian author Dennis Urbans’ new book. Originally given to us by God for its benefits (Genesis 1:29), this diet promotes good health, healing from diseases, and adds years to one’s life. Keep diseases like osteoporosis, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes at bay now.

Targeted to all ages, the book will empower readers to take charge of their own health and maintain it to a high standard well into their senior years. They will be left with no doubt that the current high-fat meat-based Western diet is detrimental to their health and is a significant cause of obesity and modern diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and cancer, among many others. Dennis Urbans shares his success story in God Wants You Healthy!, How the Genesis Diet Gives You Health, Healing and Longevity (Sept. $15.99, 1-59781-463-6). The author relates, “Through direct experience, in being a victim of my own poor diet and lifestyle, having numerous health issues and maladies from the ravages of uncontrolled diabetes and obesity, the Lord provided a path for healing and health restoration. Once deciding to follow God’s original Genesis 1:29 diet, I reversed my diabetic condition and shed over 30kg in weight to restore health and wellbeing.” Readers will find factual data and arguments for adopting the diet, along with practical advice on how to “go vegetarian.” Urbans discusses many other issues, including spiraling health costs, DNA manipulation of food, over-dependence on pharmaceuticals, deceptive foods, and the importance of pure water. He helps readers gain an understanding of the cruel and un-biblical manner in which animals today are farmed and slaughtered, and the impact this has on the earth’s resources and environment.

“God Wants You Healthy! describes a solution to the most critical nutrition-related diseases we face--a low-fat, plant-based diet. Mr. Urbans not only justifies why a vegetarian diet is crucial for health but also gives helpful hints and practical advice for adopting this kind of nutritious regimen.”

Dennis Urbans lives in Melbourne, Australia. In the year 2000, at age 41, he had a health scare with runaway diabetes along with many of the complications that come with the disease. From this experience, God set him on a path of recovery and personal search based upon what the Bible says about diet and lifestyle. As a result of removing meat products from his diet, Dennis was able to shed nearly 40kg in weight and reverse the diabetic condition such that he no longer requires insulin or medications. His wife was also freed from long-term headache problems and his daughter was freed of chronic earaches and bronchitis. Urbans has written this book in response to these experiences and much study of the Bible and secular sources. He, his wife, and three children are all vegetarians.

Tired of being out of shape and frustrated? That concern is resolved with an online personal trainer, thanks to Modern Fit Women™, a new online personal training and nutritional planning service based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Modern Fit Women has programs designed for almost anyone interested in keeping fit according to President, Andi Ross.

"We have programs specifically designed for a variety of women including mature women, business women, new moms, motivated women and full figured women," she says.

Since the online service does not need to maintain a facility, costs are more affordable then a traditional personal trainer or nutritionist, according to Ross. Services range from a basic membership as low as $13 a month to a more customized service for $80 a month.

"My goal is to do everything in my power to help women feel and look their best. I want to help women realize that they do not need to diet for the rest of their life. For optimal success, one must incorporate all three aspects of health; proper nutrition, physical activity, and effective supplementation."

Just because the service is online does not mean it lacks the personal service that is available with a personal trainer or nutritionist at a health spa or gym.

"Each package includes much more," Ross says. "With the help of e-mail we have the ability to provide our clients with access to health professionals throughout the course of their program. In addition, all of our programs offer accountability logs to deliver a higher success rate. We provide our clients with a detailed health and nutrition questionnaire to ensure we design a successful program. Our nutritionists will customize meal plans according to the individual's specific goals, lifestyle, and nutritional requirements. Our meal planning service is truly unique because each meal is carefully planned out every day; our clients will not simply receive a meal template and an exchange list."

As Winter Approaches Indoor Treadmill Makes Ambitious Claims

If you experience ache knees and joints a new treadmill product may help according to manufacturer Smooth Fitness.

According to the manufacturer...

The new Smooth Fitness 6.25 folding treadmill is built on the patented 2-piece “Stabili-Frame”, and utilizes Smooth Fitness’ proven patented “Swing-Arm Shock Absorption System”. This exclusive combination of features allows the 6.25 Folding Treadmill to meet the requirements of the most demanding runner.

Mount Laurel, NJ (PRWEB) October 20, 2005 -- Smooth Fitness is excited to announce the introduction of the Smooth 6.25 folding treadmill; made for the demanding runner. The 6.25 is the only treadmill that will satisfy runners that need a stable, heavy-duty, folding treadmill. The Smooth 6.25 will be available exclusively at www.SmoothFitness.com as of October 20, 2005.

In addition to the patented Smooth Fitness 2-piece “Stabili-Frame”, the 6.25 Treadmill also has the patented Smooth Fitness “Swing-Arm Shock Absorption Suspension”. Runners that have had a history of lower back pain, shin splints, or degenerative knees will benefit from this system since the Swing Arm technology lessens the impact on these areas of the body. Instead of the impact sending the shock through the body, the impact is dispersed through the swing-arm, deck, and 2-piece Stabili-Frame. This creates a smooth, fluid walk or run with greatly reduced impact. The custom design allows for a soft, forgiving foot landing on the front of the treadmill deck, while providing a firm push-off from the rear. This provides an ideal surface that reduces impact and relieves pressure on your lower body muscles and tendons, in addition to your lower back.

“While every other treadmill manufacturer has simply accepted that they can not design and engineer a folding treadmill for serious runners, we have recognized this as a tremendous opportunity to fill a demand and meet the needs of an ever-growing market segment”, stated Joe Alter, CEO of Smooth Fitness. “Being the largest manufacturer and seller of treadmills on the Internet, we constantly receive valuable feedback from our large customer-base to ensure that we continue to manufacture innovative fitness equipment that satisfies the needs of our customers.”

The 6.25 Treadmill also includes a continuous-duty 2.75 horsepower motor, an over-sized LED console, 36 preset programs, and a Polar wireless pulse receiver. The Smooth Treadmill is backed by an industry-best lifetime warranty on the frame and motor and will be available for $1,495.00 (includes shipping).

Fit Beyond 40, a leading lifestyle fitness coaching company, launches interactive advisory service to provide online eating and exercise support, guidance, motivation and programs. This service offers individualized, one-on-one recommendations needed to successfully incorporate regular exercise and better eating into a woman's daily life that is enjoyable and feasible.

Boston, MA (PPRWEB) October 17, 2005 -– Alice Greene, founder of Fit Beyond 40 (www.fitbeyond40.com), the leading company in lifestyle fitness coaching, will highlight at The Boston Women’s Show (www.bostonwomenshow.com) how women over 40 can take control of their health and fitness through a new online member advisory program. The program taps into interactive tools that support new exercise and eating behaviors for optimal results.

The Advisory allows members to gain access - via live online forums and email interactive queries called “Ask the Fitness Coach” - to expert advice from Greene, a certified fitness and intuitive eating coach, and other lifestyle eating and exercise coaches. Through this interactive model, Greene and her team promote and implement flexible and progressive exercise and eating programs tailored to each member’s needs much like the weekly one-on-one phone coaching sessions they conduct with current clients. Greene hopes this new online feature along with the “new look-and-feel” for the Web site will help members continue to navigate their success towards a results-oriented, healthy lifestyle.

“Lifestyle fitness coaching is an exciting new movement that encourages, motivates and supports women trying to get back into shape in a way that works best for their lives and preferences. It also creates accountability to help them stay motivated and on track, which is the key to success and where other programs have failed,” notes Greene.

“Our program is designed to empower women by providing information and tools they need to be successful on their own with the guidance they need from Fit Beyond 40.”

Greene and her team of experts use coaching techniques to uncover the underlying issues that make it hard for women to incorporate exercise and balanced eating into everyday living. Then they help clients create and implement a customized program that is enjoyable, feasible and fits their lifestyle. The programs are based on the principles of personal training, physical therapy, intuitive eating, dream coaching and life coaching.

Typical programs include:

• weekly coaching phone sessions;
• tools and strategies for overcoming obstacles;
• reasonable goal setting and positive accountability;
• personalized instruction and programs for strengthening, improving balance, or overcoming injury and pain; and
• eating coaching to educate on healthy eating habits, portion control and long-term weight loss.

Weight Loss Essentials By Bruno Brown

Before starting any weight loss program some rules are essential to succeed. At the beginning all of this might seem complicated but ones you adopt these simple guidelines, overweight will be definitively a problem of the past.

October 16, 2005 -- Your weight increased a little during winter or at the time of a change of life or a difficult period...
Result : you don't feel comfortable with your body, and the loss of a few pounds would make you feel better. Here are some tips to lose weight without false notes.

Your weight loss success depends from two conditions : you must change your food habits and increase your physical activity. If you do not have any physical exercise today, there is no need starting
to workout like crazy, but a daily walk or a little swimming each week can already make a big difference.

Caution. If you need to loose 10 pounds or more, consult a doctor or a dietician because a regular follow-up is indicated.

Some weight loss principles

Losing weight is based on a few solid principles:

* Give yourself at least a month to lose 4 to 6 pounds
* Always prevent hunger and tiredness
* Stick to your plan and rules fixed at the beginning
* Avoid deficiencies in vitamins and minerals
* Don't use diet drugs or weight loss foods
* Eating must stay a pleasure

Set your rules and stick to them

To change your food habits, it is necessary to moderately reduce your caloric intakes, i.e. initially the fat content and fast sugars. It is absolutely necessary to respect good food practices by adding some simple rules to it.

* Don't skip meals, especially breakfast which must remain copious. Have a light evening meal;

* Don't eat apart from your meals. If you feel hungry between meals, drink a large glass of water, a coffee or a tea without sugar. Also drink before your meal and in the middle of your meal;

* Use starchy foods with each meal: pasta, rice, potatoes or bread. You will get a feeling of satiety and procure the energy you need, with fibres as well. On the other hand you should avoid all that accompanies them like fatty sauces, butter, cheese, etc. Just consume these starchy foods alone or with a sugar or fat free seasoning;

* Don't consume sugared beverages

* Don't drink alcohol or beer although one glass of red wine a day is ok.

* Avoid eating outdoor because it is more difficult to control your food. In some restaurants it is possible, but being invited by friends makes it a lot harder. If you share a good meal with other people, decrease your quantity of food and never have a second serve.

* Choose lean meats and privilege poultries without skin, fish and shellfish;

* Attention with hidden fats: avoid meat prepared with sauces, fat pork deli's, cheese toppings, butter or cream, gruyere and eggs, fried foods, Viennese buns and pastry, sweets and chocolate, ice-cream, and aperitif snacks;

* Eat vegetables at will and alternate the preparation: raw, cooked and as soup;

* Have two fruits a day, but not more

Choose the right cooking mode for your food

* Meat: roasted or grilled

* Fish: roasted, tinfoil cooked in the oven or microwave

* Make your seasonings and sauces as light as possible: use a little oil, butter or cream, then use lemon, yoghourt, a stock cube and soya sauce, finally season at taste with aromatic herbs and spices.

Determination above all.

While complying with these nutritional rules, to lose weight it is wise choosing the right energy foods. It is thus useful to be informed about the nutritional value of food. It's up to you to stay motivated and not to yield to temptations. The first week will be the most difficult one, but when you notice that you lost 2 pounds already, you will keep going. Small variations during your weight loss period are allowed as long as they are exceptional. You will need to find the right balance without falling into food obsession
or frustration. If you don't find this balance you will probably start to nibble impulsively after which you will feel guilty and deprive you from any food and fall into a totally unproductive cycle compared to your weight loss objective.

Will Baby Boomers Hurt Stock Market Returns

Significant numbers of baby boomers will retire in the next 20 years. Will they sell their stocks and cause trouble for the stock market?

Menlo Park, Calif., (PRWEB) October 15, 2005 -- Some financial market forecasters believe that the upcoming retirement of baby boomers spells trouble for the stock market in coming decades.

"These observers suggest that as baby boomers retire they will sell their stock holdings to generate income needed for retirement, causing stock prices to decline or at least to have limited appreciation potential," says Dan Goldie a financial advisor to wealthy individuals and families in Menlo Park, California. "These same folks generally attribute the excessive stock gains of the 1990s to baby boomer accumulation of stocks. They assume that demography is destiny, and that demographic changes determine stock market returns."

To a casual observer this might sound plausible, but logical analysis exposes the shortcomings of this thinking. There are many factors other than demographics that influence stock returns. According to Mr. Goldie, "It is far too simplistic to assume that basic population changes, which are known by markets participants decades in advance, are a major determinant of future stock returns."

Long-term market returns are determined by the cost of capital, not demographics. Certainly, demographics could cause a change in the cost of capital, but it would likely be a small change and would affect all asset classes, not just stocks. In addition, there are numerous other macro factors that could have a meaningful mitigating influence over demographic effects on our economy, such as:

- Future immigration inflows of younger workers
- International capital flows
- Changing birth and death rates
- Relative aging patterns of other countries
- Changing work habits and income needs of older workers
- Productivity changes coinciding with aging workers

The forward-looking behavior of markets suggests that prices are not likely to decline significantly due to demographic changes. Mr. Goldie continues, "The world’s capital markets are a highly efficient information processing mechanism -- probably the greatest the world has ever known. It seems highly unlikely that this market system, which can instantaneously process enormous amounts of information every second of every trading day, would fail to account for basic knowledge of population trends that has been known for decades."

A doom-and-gloom forecast implicitly assumes that markets are incorrectly pricing the risk of population changes. Even if one assumes that markets are inefficient and do not price risk correctly, they are as likely to be under priced as overpriced. In other words, if we accept that markets don’t work and prices are wrong, we must also accept that prices could be wrong in a “positive” direction -- i.e., priced too low, leading to higher unexpected returns as events unfold.

It is impossible to predict big macroeconomic changes decades in advance because dynamics of the global economy are too complex. Mr. Goldie says, "Simply put, demographic trends are easily dwarfed by other factors. There is also no evidence that older Americans systematically sell stocks as they age."

Mr. Goldie's analysis of historical patterns of stock holdings by age confirms that investors tend to not sell stocks as they get older. Using data from the Federal Reserve Board, Mr. Goldie observes that Americans over 55 have higher equity ownership than their younger cohorts and maintain it throughout their lives. This suggests that investors accumulate stocks during their high-earning years and do not dramatically reduce them in retirement.

The Baby Boomer’s Bible to Life After 50 Reveals the Essential Truths About Aging

New York Times #1 best-selling author Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott has come out with her latest work, an eBook entitled "The Baby Boomer's Bible to Life After 50", to assist people in the aging process, or what she calls "adding years to our lives".

(PRWEB) October 15, 2005 -- Every 8.5 seconds, someone in the United States turns 50. In fact, 12.5% of today's American population was born before 1939. Aging in this fast-paced world is on the minds of many of them. To address these concerns, New York Times best-selling author Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott has released her latest of a dozen life improvement books, "The Baby Boomer's Bible to Life After 50."

The book spells out ten truths about aging and how to cope with each one of them. From nurturing connections to self-acceptance and maintaining enthusiasm, this book lays the ground rules for aging with ease and grace.

"The recent series of books that I have written addresses natural transitions in human development," says Dr. Carter-Scott. "As a person grows, there are normal and expected transitions that by their very nature are uncertain, unsettling, and unclear. Those transitions are: becoming an adult, finding your career or calling, compatible partnering, becoming a parent, and growing older. Successful transit through these rites of passage is a large part of our development as adults. Each transition has its own universal truths that transcend gender, nationality, race, and religion. I wrote these books to provide handrails for people to help clarify and guide them through the uncertainties they face and to sort out their personal evolution as a result of each transition."

"I bought the book for my parents to help them deal with getting older, and whatever comes along with that. It has been extremely helpful and insightful for them," states Anne Ducale, Production Coordinator of Licensing Materials for the MMS Institute.

The book is only available in ebook format because Dr. Carter-Scott believes that this is the wave of the future. It is so easy to get information out in this manner and with all the computer advancement she felt it was important keep up to date.
